This is Manhattan, built from real map data: more than a hundred thousand surveyed buildings standing on their real footprints and heights, every street and avenue, and Central Park with its lakes, paths and bridges, from the Battery to the Cloisters. Around it the Hudson and the East River, Jersey City, Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx run on to the horizon. It is free, it runs in your browser with nothing to install, and everyone who opens it is in the same New York.
The Empire State Building, One World Trade Center and the 9/11 Memorial, Times Square, the Chrysler Building, Grand Central Terminal, Rockefeller Center, St. Patrick's Cathedral, Madison Square Garden, Hudson Yards and the High Line, the Flatiron Building, Washington Square, Central Park, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Columbus Circle, Billionaires' Row, the United Nations, the New York Stock Exchange and the Charging Bull, the Battery, the Brooklyn Bridge, the Statue of Liberty, the Apollo Theater, Columbia University and the Cloisters.
Multiplayer is built in. Everyone who opens insane.city/nyc is in the same city, so send your friends the link and meet at Times Square: you see each other walking, driving and flying in real time, and you can chat by pressing T. No accounts, no lobby, no sign-up.
Insane City's first world is Meridian 2050, an invented coastal city with a Grand Prix circuit, a roller coaster, fighter jets and snow peaks.

Insane City is free to play, and always will be to try. If you are enjoying it, you can chip in to back its development. We have not finalised how supporters will be thanked yet, so for now this is simply a way to support the game — early supporters will be remembered.

On a phone: everything is on screen. The pedals at the bottom right change with what you are in: GAS and BRAKE in the car, FWD and BACK with SPRINT on foot, throttle in the plane. The arrows on the left steer, turn or work the rudder. Drag anywhere on the world to look around, pinch to zoom in the overview, and tap the ⛶ button in the header for fullscreen. Hold two controls at once, for example gas and steering, and both register.

2050 gameplay: Space jumps on foot; E gets out of your car or re-enters it when nearby. Your parked car stays in the world. Physical portal fields now activate when entered, with E and a visible interaction button as alternatives. World controls reveals the simulation and graphics settings.
Walk explores the city in third person with an athletic character: WASD runs, drag looks freely, Shift sprints, and R recovers. Use Architecture Walks to visit landmark plazas. The main island now has nine times its original land area, plus an airport island.
Fly plane starts airborne over the bay. W/S adjust throttle, A/D control rudder, U/J pitch down/up, and H/K roll left/right. Numpad 8/5/4/6 also works. Buildings and water cause an arcade crash; R respawns. Drag to look around in either vehicle; C recenters.
Drive puts you behind the wheel in third person. Tap N for a burst of nitrous rather than holding it. Clipping something at a shallow angle now glances off and slides along it instead of stopping you dead. Two cars roll out of the garage, a mid-engined hypercar and a front-engined V12 grand tourer, in a fresh colour each time you take one; both are original designs inspired by the genre, not replicas. WASD drive, Space handbrake, Shift boost, R recover, Esc exit. Click the scene if keys are not responding. Driving uses simplified arcade physics.
Wind field reveals animated streamlines. Structure reveals conceptual exoskeletons. Flyover takes a slow cinematic orbit. Every view stays interactive.
Meridian Bay is an invented city. Dimensions, wind flow, traffic, and structural systems are illustrative-not measured data, CFD, or safety analysis. With a reduced-motion preference the city keeps running, but camera shake, speed streaks, field-of-view surges, most of the head bob and strobing fireworks are turned down.
Raven fighter: Space or Launch fires large unguided arcade missiles, with six rounds and automatic rearm. Other players in aircraft can be shot down - a direct hit destroys their Raven and they respawn with R. Everyone on foot, in a car or on a jetpack still passes harmlessly through each other; only aircraft can be hurt. Kills are tallied beside each name in the players panel. Gear-up flight is faster; G lowers the gear for the airport approach speed range. Space remains airbrake. Explosions are stylized game effects; the city stays intact.
Airport landing: press L to line up with runway 09. G toggles landing gear. Approach aligned and nearly level with a gentle descent and moderate speed; S reduces throttle, Space brakes. After touchdown, use A/D to taxi and W + J for takeoff. This is an arcade landing model, not pilot training.
Landscape journeys: Golden Dunes lies west of the city; Frostline Peaks lies north. Glasswater Lake feeds the upper stream, Cascade Falls, and Silver River. Use the atlas’s World view or the walking destination selector. Terrain and water routes are fictional, stylized landscapes.
Metro & Portals: Metro boards the elevated M1 loop. Exit at the next station or use Exit now to arrive on foot; drag looks around. Portals pauses only your player while choosing; trains and world activity keep running. Travel is instantaneous and arrivals are on foot. Approach an in-world portal and press E or walk through the field to open the same network.
The oversized Saturn and hovering UFOs are deliberate fantasy elements. Jeddah Tower is shown as a future-completed design study; the actual project is under construction and its published design exceeds 1,000 metres. It does not replace the completed-building top-ten ranking.
Persistent world, random player spawns: Walk, Drive and Fly choose safe varied starting places without regenerating the map. Metro boarding attaches to an existing train instead of restarting its timetable. Portal menus pause only the local player. Explicit World Pause remains a single-player control. The shared-state snapshot is groundwork for multiplayer, not a multiplayer server.
Content: Insane City contains stylised cartoon violence. Driving into pedestrians knocks them down and leaves blood on the road. It is a low-poly fiction with no gore detail, but this game is for players aged 18 and over. Turn Traffic off in World controls to remove pedestrians entirely.
Jetpack: flies on the same control map as the Raven. W/S set throttle, U/J pitch the nose down/up, H/K roll (banking turns you), A/D yaw. Thrust is vectored along the nose, so pitch down and you dive. Space still gives direct lift and Shift direct descent for takeoff and landing; Q+E holds a hover and brakes everything. On the ground F takes the pack off; in the air F throws you clear and opens the parachute if you have the height for it. There is no fall damage anywhere in this world: land without a canopy and you simply bounce. The jetpack attaches at your current on-foot location; from other modes it uses a safe player spawn. This is an original arcade implementation inspired by San Andreas controls.

The Azure GT is a lightweight Bugatti Chiron-inspired design study, not a licensed exact replica.
Top-ten roster: Skyscraper Center 2026 completed buildings, architectural height. Heights are rounded; models are stylized and placements fictional. Burj Khalifa has been rebuilt around its triple-lobed Y plan and staggered setbacks.
