Dubai, at street level

Explore Dubai in the same Insane City game: drive Sheikh Zayed Road, walk the Marina, fly past the Burj Khalifa, sail off the Palm and meet friends in a shared city. Switch cities from the city selector and carry your character and vehicle choices with you.

A city built from real map data

The roads and interchanges, a quarter of a million building footprints, parks, beaches, islands, the Creek and the coast come from OpenStreetMap, projected at life size around the Burj Khalifa. The map runs from Jebel Ali and the Palm Jumeirah to Deira, Al Mamzar and Expo City, including a strip of neighbouring Sharjah at the northern edge. Terrain comes from AWS Terrain Tiles with surface spikes filtered out, and remains an approximation. Heights use mapped heights or floor counts where available; the rest are estimated from mapped neighbours of a similar size, or from the building type. This is a playable reconstruction, not a survey-grade or photorealistic replica.

The Burj Khalifa, Burj Al Arab, Dubai Frame, Museum of the Future, Ain Dubai and Al Wasl Dome are modelled to their published dimensions on their mapped sites; their architectural detail is an interpretation. Cayan Tower's twist, the Emirates Towers' sloping crowns and the arch of Atlantis The Palm are modelled too. Buildings still tagged as under construction are not shown as finished. Roads in tunnels are not included.

Ride the Metro, the tram and the Monorail

The Dubai Metro's Red and Green lines, the Dubai Tram and the Palm Jumeirah Monorail run on their mapped routes, in and out of the tunnels under Bur Dubai and Deira, stopping at every named station. Board any of them from the dock, watch the next stop count down, and get off where you like. At DXB, airliners wait at their stands and land on the long runway; abras cross the Creek, yachts fill the marinas, and the beaches have their parasols.

Where can I explore?
Start in Downtown by the Burj Khalifa and the Dubai Fountain, then head for the Museum of the Future, the Dubai Frame, the souks and the Creek in Deira and Bur Dubai, the beaches of Jumeirah, the Burj Al Arab, the Palm, Dubai Marina, Ain Dubai, Jebel Ali and Expo City.
Does Dubai use the same game?
Yes. The character, vehicles, boats and e-foil, portals and multiplayer use the shared game systems. Traffic keeps right.
Can I ride the Dubai Metro?
Yes. The Metro button boards the nearest train on the Red or Green line; the Tram and Monorail buttons board those. Hold W to hurry it along, V changes the view, and F gets you off at the next station.
When does the Dubai Fountain play?
In the evening, every half hour from six until half past eleven, and at lunchtime from one o'clock. The game's day is twenty minutes long, so each show runs for most of its half hour.
Where does the map come from?
Map data © OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database Licence. The derived map and reproducible import scripts are included with the game.
Is every building exact?
Footprints follow OSM, with mapped heights where available. Missing heights and facade details are estimates, so this is not a photorealistic replica.
Can I use boats?
Yes. Boats and e-foils start on the open Gulf off Umm Suqeim, between the Burj Al Arab and the Palm.
Can I switch back to another city?
Use the city selector to go to Meridian 2050, New York City, Hong Kong or Singapore while keeping your character and vehicle preferences.
